Our CEO, David Hancock, has a very simple view on why The Nursery Family is such a wonderful place to work and for children to spend time. He spends plenty of time in the nurseries speaking to all the team members; he recognises that the foundations of The Nursery Family are its people, so hearing their voice regularly is vitally important.
His vision for the children comes from personal experience…
“As a child in the 1970’s I was raised in rural Nottinghamshire, on the edge of Sherwood Forest. The world was regarded as a safer place than today and we were allowed to wander off and play for hours on end in the forest and fields – it was a dreamy time and I have deeply fond memories of playing hide & seek, making dens in the forest and… just wandering around in the fresh open air.
Today our world is full of fear and distrust with risks that were unheard of back then – many children will never get to experience the wonderful things that I took for granted, I want to change that and create a childcare business that enables team members to become part of a family who are devoted to nurture and care for children and deliver inspiring fun learning activities; indoors, outdoors, in town and out of town.
I share my memories with my son and daughters all the time (they have even visited and enjoyed the places where these memories were created) and now we pass all of that down to my wonderful grandchildren to ensure they get their full quota of memorable fun and learning.
When a child leaves the nursery for their next step in life, our challenge should be to ensure they take with them wonderful memories of the fun things they experienced, memories to share with the next generation”
